The Void is the setting of D20 Deathmatch: a dark space outside of all time and space, home to many lost and broken worlds, realms and peoples floating in its emptiness.
Overview
- Everything revolves around The Dread Fortress and its lava region, which can be seen from every realm in the Void.
- The realms are all connected ethereally. Travel between them usually happens through portals, but it is seamless either way.
- Chaos energy is the universal force of the Void. People tap into it in daily life (portals and the like), but only a few truly master it: The Arbiter, The Shadow King, Grimnar Stormclaw and, sometimes, the Grandmaster.
- Anything from anywhere in time and space can turn up in the Void, which is why champions arrive from every world imaginable (and why real-world things keep appearing).
- Crossing out of the Void is extremely difficult. Cor’thun, where Elusia was raised, lies outside it.
- There are hells inside the Void and hells outside it, because realms have collided.
The Acolytes
The Acolytes are the residents of the Void, ruled by the Grandmaster. They live in the lost realms across the Void, and every Sunday the Arbiter opens portals that bring them to the floating grandstands of the ever-changing arena. They cheer, throw blue slushies, rip their shirts off, sacrifice their grandmothers, and sometimes decide a champion’s fate.
